(PT) Reflexão final / (ENG) Final reflection

PT

ENG

First of all, it should be noted that this was the first participation of this class in the iTEC, despite me being your teacher three years ago. Although never having participated, I always challenged them to use new technologies especially in terms of research, selection and organization of information, as well as to present and disseminate the results of their work. However, not all correspond to this challenge, the majority showed some difficulties in this area. It was a class that didn't have a great predisposition in ICT and to develop group work. They were students who preferred classes where a more passive role to take. This project was an even bigger challenge for them and for me, but it went pretty well revealing even surprises in terms of the performance of some medium students. Most showed commitment and productivity indices above normal. Themselves were surprised with the result, since initially took some fear of not being able to overcome the difficulties/challenges. At the end everyone thought to learn so was more interesting and motivating and that this project allowed them to develop important skills for the future, these being the main benefits. I must also point out that many students have significantly improved their learning. For me it was rewarding to provide this particular students a learning environment in which everyone felt involved so positively. The performance of the class was generally "very good" having students assumed with commitment, responsibility, critical spirit, creativity and autonomy the development of tasks in the course of the project.
In practice, the difficulties were more technical than attributable to the students, despite their special characteristics. It wasn't easy to install the necessary applications due to limitations on Internet access that are currently in Portuguese schools. On the other hand, the fact that it required Windows 8 to explore the Corinth Classroom in Office, also constitutes an obstacle, since at school are few devices that have it installed because of lack of funds to make the necessary updates.
There were several technological tools and resources students contacted for the first time. In addition to the resources that we could access on the platform "Corrinth Classroom B", TeamUp, Blogger, Google Drive / Google Doc's, Picasa and Widgets have been exploited by these students. Some not had a e-mail account or if they had they not used it. Each team also had the opportunity to use a tablet for the first time and did so enthusiastically learning to handle this resource quite easily and in appropriate manner.
As a teacher I’m always seeking the best way to get to my students and to involve them in the teaching / learning process, whenever it’s possible and appropriate I will continue to opt for this type strategies that I confirmed once again that can give good results.

(PT) Apresentação final do projeto / (ENG) Final presentation of the project

PT

(ENG) Observing the heart of a mammal and the virtual 3D model of Corinth Classroom.

PT

ENG
Last Thursday (May 15) teams were challenged to develop an experimental activity through which they could better know the heart of a mammal.
According to one protocol proposed in the manual of Natural Science, each team exhaustively explored a pig heart ... unfortunately not all specimens achieved in a local butcher, presented intact. Some had cuts that conditioned the observation of some details of the morphology of the heart muscle, including the vena cava and pulmonary. Contacts with the municipal slaughterhouse were established, in order to obtain organs in better shape, but the response from those responsible was negative ...
After all, thanks to the efforts of students and monitoring done by the teacher, the activity took place quite well if having achieved all their objectives.
Following the protocol students identified the atria, ventricles, the aorta and pulmonary arteries, atrioventricular and semilunar valves, compared the thickness of the myocardium in both ventricles, ... among other things. During the exploration of the morphology of the heart, students were establishing the sequence of blood circulation therein.
Apart from the exploration of the real organ, the students made contact with the virtual 3D model available in Corinth Classroom B and established comparisons between them. In this context they also experienced the increased anatomy.
The students were quite motivated and enthusiastic about the activity, and all teams had a very good performance.
Are below the photos as a testimony of their work.

(ENG) "Explore" to learn more about the circulatory system.

PT

ENG
According provided for in the project, teams were challenged to research more about the cardiovascular system following a screenplay work and registering the data collected in a Google doc's that appears below.
